Play on your phone. Bring a friend.

Early-access Android app for your own Nintendo 64 copy of Gauntlet Legends. No ROM is included. Requires Android 9 or newer and an ARM64 phone.

Install and import

  1. Download the APK from the game page. Open it from your phone’s Files app and allow that app to install it if Android asks.
  2. Open Gauntlet Co-op, tap Import / replace game, and select your Gauntlet Legends ZIP, .z64, .n64 or .v64 file.
  3. Try Play solo. Touch controls fade out when idle; tap the screen to show them. Bluetooth controllers are also supported.

Turn on automatic updates

  1. Open Updates in the app.
  2. Choose Allow Gauntlet Co-op to install updates and enable the permission in Android settings.
  3. Keep automatic updates on. The app checks when opened and periodically in the background, verifies releases, and waits while you’re playing. Android may still ask you to confirm installation.

Install the updater-enabled APK once if you have the original test build. Later app updates keep your imported ROM and saves. Both players should update before starting a session.

Co-op on the same Wi-Fi

  1. Both players install the same app version and import the same ROM version.
  2. One taps Host game. The other taps Join game and chooses the host.
  3. Wait until both players appear, then the host presses Start. Press A in the game to join as your player.

Playing from different homes

The host should use home Wi-Fi. Try automatic port mapping and the host’s Get Code option. A code locates the host; it doesn’t bypass blocked ports.

  1. For manual hosting, turn automatic port mapping off in Connection settings.
  2. Reserve the host phone’s local address in the router.
  3. Forward TCP 43821 and TCP/UDP 43822 to that phone.
  4. Your friend uses Join game → Enter IP, your home network’s public IPv4 address, and room port 43821. If you changed the settings, use those ports instead.
