This tool reads and writes ID3v2 tags — the format virtually every modern MP3 player and tag reader uses — for title, artist, album, year, genre, track number, comment, and embedded cover art (the APIC frame). It does not touch the older, separate ID3v1 tag some MP3s carry as a fixed 128-byte block at the very end of the file (this tool detects and reports whether one is present, below, but never reads, edits, or removes it) or any embedded chapter/lyrics/other advanced frames beyond the common set edited here. "Strip All Tags" removes the ID3v2 tag entirely — a real zero-byte result, not just blanked-out fields — but, again, leaves any ID3v1 tag exactly as it was.
