Free PDF Redaction Tool
Draw black boxes over sensitive text, numbers, or images — then get a new PDF where that content is genuinely, permanently gone.
Free, private, no upload to a server. Everything happens in your browser.
All processing happens 100% in your browser — your PDF is never uploaded anywhere. That matters more for this tool than almost any other: whatever you're redacting never leaves your device in the first place.
Why this tool rasterizes every page, not just the ones you redact: many "PDF redaction" tools only draw a black box on top of the original text — the text is still underneath, perfectly selectable and extractable. To guarantee your redacted content is actually gone, this tool renders every page of the output to a flattened image (with your black boxes burned into the pixels) and builds a brand-new PDF from those images. That means text will no longer be selectable or searchable anywhere in the output file — on every page, not just the ones you marked. That's what makes the redaction permanent, not just visual.

Everything You Need to Redact a PDF
100% Private
Your PDF never leaves your device — the redaction itself runs locally in your browser. Whatever you're blacking out never touches a server in the first place.
Completely Free
No sign-up, no watermark, no subscription. Free forever.
Genuinely Destroyed
Not a black box drawn on top of live text. Every page is rendered to a flattened image, so there is no underlying text or vector content left to select, search, or extract.
Whole-Document Flattening
Every page becomes an image in the output, not just the ones you redact — so the entire file is consistently text-free, with no page anyone could mistakenly trust as still selectable.
Self-Verified
After building the output, the tool reloads it and checks every page's extractable text itself, and tells you the exact result — not just a promise.
Draw Anywhere
Click and drag to draw as many redaction boxes as you need on any page, then undo, delete, or clear a page in one click.
Page-by-Page Preview
Large PDFs render one page at a time as you navigate, so opening a huge file stays fast.
Real Cancel
Stop a redaction run partway through a large PDF — it actually interrupts the page loop.
Friendly on Locked PDFs
Password-protected PDFs are detected up front with a clear message, not a confusing failure.
